This Punjabi chicken curry is one of the best I have been making at home for our main courses. You will eat this recipe as a chicken curry or Dhaba style chicken curry. It is quite simple to make and tastes delicious. We love the Dhaba dishes with this mixture of curd and spices.

INGREDIENTS FOR PUNJABI CHICKEN CURRY
FOR MARINATION
Chicken-1/2kg
Curd-1/2cup
Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
Red chilli powder-2tsp
Coriander powder-1.5tsp
Cumin powder-1tsp
Black pepper powder-1tsp
salt to taste
FOR PUREE
Oil-2tsp
Cumin seeds-1tsp
Onion(sliced)-1 big
Garlic-5to6
Ginger-1inch
FOR GRAVY
Oil-1/2cup
Tejpatta-1
Green cardamoms-3
Black cardamom-1
Laung-4
Dalchini-2
Tomato puree-1/2cup
Onion puree-1/2 cup
Kasuri methi-1tsp
Garam masala-1tsp
Coriander leaves(chopped)-1/4cup
OPTIONAL
Cumin powder
Black pepper powder
HOW TO MAKE THE RECIPE
Preparation for Punjabi chicken curry
Rinse well Chicken,and cut into the pieces.
Cut onion into the slice.
Make tomato puree.
How to make Punjabi Dhaba style Chicken Curry or Punjabi Chicken Curry
- Take a bowl add 1/2 kg chicken rinse well.
- Add curd,turmeric powder,red chilli powder,coriender powder,cumin powder,black pepper powder or salt,mix well .
- And marinate for 1 hour.
- After 1 hour takes a kadhai add 2tsp oil heat it.
- Then add cumin seeds, onion, garlic and ginger, fry for light brown, not golden brown.
- After fried onion light brown add this mixture into the grinder jar and make a puree without adding water, keep aside.
- Again heat the same kadhai add 1/2 cup of oil, heat the oil.
- Then add tejpatta,green cardemom,black cardemom,laung and dalchini,fry for sec.
- Add onion puree into the oil and fry for 1 min.
- After min add tomato puree into the kadhai and fry for 2-3 min.
- frying tomato puree after 3 min add marinated chicken, combined well and fry for 5-6 min.
- After 6 min chicken fries well then add Kasuri methi and garam masala, mix well and saute for 1 min.
- After 1 min add water around 1/2 cup or you needed.
- Cover the lid for 2-3 min or chicken becomes soft,
- Open lid, Punjabi chicken curry is ready to serve.
- Last but not the least add chopped coriander leaves.
- Punjabi chicken curry is ready to serve hot with, chapati, nan, kulcha and rice.
